Licorice is a special substance. When I gave the first sample to my friend Sonja to try, she happily exclaimed: "Hmmm, delicious salmiak. And really without sugar?" And the real lover prefers the strong salty ones to the sweet ones!
deBron, a Dutch manufacturer of sugar-free foods, has really managed to offer an almost completely sugar-free liquorice product that tastes like any sugar-packed brand name product. The Dutch name "Zoute Klavertjes" may not sound like it, but behind the liquorice there is real steam.
INFO: Polyols such as maltitol, sorbitol, maltodextrin, mannitol or isomalt, which are used here for sweetening, are not entirely undisputed (it must also be listed as a carbohydrate in the nutritional value table, although the insulin effect is almost = 0), but there are only a few who have problems with it (e.g. increased bowel activity). However, one should not consume the liquorice by the kilo.
