sweet liquorice, sugar free 100g
Sweet liquorice bears
Licorice is a special substance. When I gave my friend Sonja the first sample to try, she happily exclaimed: "Hmmm, delicious salmiak. And really without sugar?"
deBron, a Dutch manufacturer of sugar-free foods, has really managed to offer an almost completely sugar-free liquorice product that tastes like any sugar-packed brand name product.
Polyols such as maltitol, sorbitol, maltodextrin, mannitol or isomalt, which are used here for sweetening, are not entirely uncontroversial (it must also be listed as a carbohydrate in the nutritional value table, although the insulin effect is almost = 0), but there are only a few who have problems with it (e.g. increased bowel activity). However, one should not consume the liquorice by the kilo.
